How to install NOD32 Antivirus

You have purchased ESET NOD32 Antivirus and you want to install it for the first time on your computer or you are trying to re-install it on your computer or to a new one. Before being your guide through the installation process I would like to remind you that you should only have one anti-virus software installed at a time on your computer. Using more than one anti-virus program can interfere causing instability of your computer. Make sure to remove any antivirus program, including older versions of this antivirus before installing it to avoid problems.

In this article, as I said I will show you how to install ESET NOD32 Antivirus on a Microsoft Windows client using the "Typical" installation process. Before doing anything, you need to have your copy of ESET NOD32 Antivirus on your computer and your username and password that you received when you purchased this antivirus. If you don't have the antivirus program you can get the latest version of NOD32 Antivirus. Supposing that you have your copy of this program, please open it and you should see a setup window like in the picture below :

This is the first window from setup process that you will see when you will install NOD32 Antivirus

As you can see I have selected the first option - Typical ( Recommended for most users ) and I have clicked on "Next" button. Now, you should see another window, the one with license Agreement like in this picture :

NOD32 Antivirus Software Licence Agreement

Please read the "license Agreement" and if you agree you should click on the "Next" button and a new window will appear :

Select the update mode for NOD32 Antivirus

This is an important step, I suggest you to leave the update server by default on "Choose Automatically" mode and I also suggest you to enter your username and your password ( you can choose to setup those parameters later ) so that you can benefit for immediately updates. Again, click on the "Next" button to continue with the installation :

Setup NOD32 Antivirus Internet Connection settings

If you do have a proxy that you're using to access the Internet or a dial-up connection you can select the method that you would like to use when updating NOD32 Antivirus. Otherwise, leave it on "I don't know whether proxy server is used. I want to use the same settings as those used by Internet Explorer" and click on "Next" button :

Enable ThreatSense.Net early warning system in NOD32 Antivirus

The "ThreatSense.Net Early Warning System" is the system that sends unknown threats to be analyzed in ESET's Labs the developers of NOD32 Antivirus. You can choose to disable "ThreatSense.Net Early Warning System" but I would recommend you to leave it enabled as it is going to improve NOD32 Antivirus. Hit the "Next" button to continue :

The setup configuration for NOD32 Antivirus has been completed, you can now proceed with the installation process

You have completed the configuration and it's now time for the installation, please click on the "Next" button and you should see a new window like in the picture below :

The installation of NOD32 Antivirus has been completed and you are now required to restart you computer. If you want to restart your computer now, please save your work and click on the "Finish" button. Your computer will restart immediately. If you want to restart it at a later time, choose "Restart later" and click on "Finish". I am recommending you to restart immediately to avoid any infections of your computer. Supposing that you have restarted your computer, you should see small icon in your desktop taskbar. If you are going to open it you will see a new window like in the following picture :
