What is the best antivirus for Windows and why ?

If you're using one antivirus program today, this could become the worst choice in a couple of years. If you're a normal person and not a computer expert you could learn some tricks from me. A good antivirus should be able to block an website that contains malware. For example, if you're visiting a website that contains malware your antivirus should notify you and automatically block that page. But how can we detect infected websites ? Well, there are some solutions. You know what website infected your computer and you remember it or note it somewhere or you can see such infected websites if you're accesing Yahoo Search and type something like "download mirc" and the search engine should show you infected websites in a red warning. Another trick is to use Norton Safe Web to test a website. It's like testing 2 antiviruses, the first one from Yahoo Search that shows dangerous websites scanned with McAfee Antivirus and the second one that obviously uses Norton Antivirus. You can see in the pictures below examples that reveals infected websites. This is very dangerous and can infect your computer if you are accessing the infected websites but it can test your antivirus so if you decide to do this I am not responsible for any damages.

Another good tip is to go to your favourite search engine and type "keylogger" ( it's a program that allows you to spy anything on your computer ), choose one keylogger program or more, download them and install them. A good antivirus should block them immediately and you should not be able to install it unless you disable the antivirus. Even if you're advised by the keylogger program do not disable your antivirus.

When choosing an antivirus you should buy one. There are some free antivirus solution and the most popular are Avira Antivirus, AVG Antivirus and Avast Antivirus but they do not offer the same level of protection compared with a full version. Sure, it's better to choose a free antivirus if you cannot afford to buy a license for an antivirus software.

If you're wondering what free antivirus should you use, my recommendation would be Avira Antivirus. It doesn't offer protection against spyware but this could be fixed with a program like SpyBot Search & Destroy or Ad-Aware ( those are free to ). If you have the money and you want the best antivirus nowadays, I could recommend you Kaspersky Antivirus. I personally use this solution since 2004 and it worked for me, though there are some settings that needs to be properly configured after installing him.

Also a firewall should be present but Windows firewall can offer you a decent protection if it's well configured. So I was talking about Kaspersky Antivirus, I chosed this solution since he never disappointed me when I tried to visit a website and this antivirus blocked him, or when I received an email that contained a link to a bad website, when I tried to open a file downloaded from the Internet. Also he always blocked keyloggers, I tried to install a lot of them but I wasn't able to install any of them. I saw computers that were infected with viruses, trojans, worms, keyloggers, rootkits installed by hackers and all of them running an antivirus that "experienced" users recommend them as the best solution. I had friends that got their computers hacked, my cousins also got their computers infected and so on. After installing Kaspersky Antivirus and setting up their antivirus and their computer, no one complained again. I remember that I installed a couple of years ago Kaspersky Antivirus on a computer that was used by someone to access a lot of porn sites. After several computer infections and browser hijacks I discovered that he was choosing "No" to any window launched by the antivirus. The solution was to configure the antivirus to automatically decide what's best to do in case of an infection and this sounds like "Disinfect, delete if cannot be disinfect".

Finally as I said the best antivirus for Windows is Kaspersky Antivirus and you have to buy it after the 30 days free trial period. If you look for the best free solution I would recommend you Avira Antivirus. If you don't like this one you can try also AVG Antivirus and Avast Antivirus.
