Turn off or disable autocomplete feature: prevent words from being recorded

If you are searching on the Internet and you've noticed that your browser it's trying to give you some suggestions by showing you a list of previously searched words and you don't know why he is acting in this way, look no further this problem is actually a feature of Windows XP called "autocomplete" and I am going to show you how to disable or turn it off.

This article is being useful if you're using Internet Explorer 7 browser. So, let's get started, open Internet Explorer 7 and click on "Tools" and then on -> "Internet Options", like in the next picture :

Open Internet Explorer 7 then click on the Tools tab and choose Internet Options

A new window should appear and you should see a picture similar with this one :

Make sure to click on AutoComplete "Settings" and a new small window should appear like in this picture :

Make sure to uncheck "Forms" and click on OK button and then on Apply or OK. Delete your computer cookies, history and the next time when you will search for something it won't remember or offer you any words suggestions. As you have noticed you can turn off or disable even Web addresses or usernames and passwords on forms but I would recommend you to leave them as they are since it's useful to remember you a website that you've found useful. Also keep in mind that you can disable autocomplete in Internet Explorer 7 browser as this article was written when this version was the most used version.
