What is WinRAR
On of the main difference between WinRAR and ZIP data compression software is the power of WinRAR when using the compression since RAR files can compress between 8 and 15 percent more than other ZIP files can ( used on similar system with the same memory, CPU power etc. ). WinRAR is strong when he must use his ability to process repairing damaged archives, encryption of files, ZIP decompression and compression, processing non RAR archiving formats, support for longer file names ( this is an common issue for many other similar archiver's ) or multimedia compression and many other features. WinRAR can recognise and use the following compression formats and standards like ZIP, UPX, compress, bzip2, gzip, Izop, SBC, PAQ, ARC, JAR, ARJ, Info-Zip, PKZIP, RAR and the list continues with new versions of WinRAR ( the list is updated by the developer of this application when new formats and standards are becoming more popular ). Also WinRAR is a similar data compression software with the following applications like WinZip, ALZip, PowerArchiver, WinAce, WinRK, GCA, Stuffit Expander, ZipGenius, WinUHA, 7zX, Filzip, MacBinary, Squeez, Stuffit, TUGZip and many other. Compared with all of these similar archiver programs, WinRAR is one of the best because is extremely stable, fast and very easy to use.
Editor reviews for WinRAR
Another data compression software, my favourite and probably the best archive manager - a must have and almost a perfect application - WinRAR - who is lightweight, easy to use and very flexible. Sure, there are many others archivers to choose from with nice interfaces that are being redesignated with each new version, with new skins to choose from and so on. If you like the things that are made to be easy, very stable and powerful, then you will definetely love WinRAR if you didn't already tried it. If you will make more investigations about this applications you will probably discover on the Internet forums that many users had it for years, didn't crashed in years - this makes it very stable and many of them prefer WinRAR instead of using WinZip. I must recognise that I prefer WinRAR to, instead of using WinZip but I guess that this is only a matter of taste since both of them are very good data compression tools. As a conclusion, anyone out there seeking for an all in one archiving solution should definetely try out WinRAR.
