What is Trillian

Trillian is a multiprotocol instant messaging software for Microsoft Windows. He was developed in 2000 and since then it is being improved. He can connect to multiple services like Yahoo! Messenger, AIM, IRC, ICQ, Bonjour, Skype, Windows Live Messenger, Jabber and Novell GroupWise Messenger ( You will need to purchase a Trillian Pro version in order to be able to connect to Skype, Jabber, Bonjour and Novell GroupWise Messenger since it will allow you additional plugins ). There are two versions of Trillian - Trillian Basic 3 and the commercial version of Trillian Pro 3 although the upcoming of Trillian Astra version 4.0 has already been announced. He has good capabilities which allows server side contact importing, encrypted messaging ( this is being available only for AIM and ICQ ), system tray notifications, direct connection available for AIM , buddy icons, audio chat ( like group chats and chat rooms ), simultaneous connections to the same network, proxy support, standard features, file transfers and privacy settings. Coming up with the latest version of Trillian, the bug that was effecting Yahoo Messenger has been fixed. Trillian can be installed on almost all Microsoft Windows versions.

Editor reviews for Trillian

I used Trillian for the first time, in 2003 and I remember that I loved the idea of having an all in one chat application. I know, it may sound a little strange for some people but you cannot say that you don't like this chat software unless you already use it before. Also, if you have used AIM, Windows Live Messenger, ICQ, IRC, Skype and Yahoo Messenger including Trillian to communicate over these networks you can rate this software at his real potential. Actually, it's all about the things that this software can do for you. Let me give you an example, let's say that you have two friends that you use to talk almost every night on Yahoo Messenger, 5 friends that uses IRC and one that loves to chat on Windows Messenger. Will you install separately and use all of them once ? Sure not, I don't doubt that are some people that preffer this method. However, if we think logically it would be much better for us and for our computers to use Trillian instead of using all of other similar chat software separately, don't you think ? This is my opinion and I am thinking at his main purpose as a chat software but there are many other good examples for you to download and install Trillian. Let's say that installation process is a simple one. This could be another good argument but that's not the last one. Trillian is free and as they sustain ( Cerulean Studios - the producers of this fine software ) there's no adware included in Trillian or functionality limitations. I used Trillian and it's not yet an excellent software, it is a good one and very useful but there are a lot of things that should be done in order to improve this chat application and that's not my personal impression since it was inspired by people that are giving negative votes for this software on Internet forums. I wouldn't trust so much other people opinions since you could download Trillian, install it and if you find it useful, decide if you want to keep it and even purchase the pro version or you can simply uninstall it.
