Spyware Doctor is not a freeware software but there is a free version that provides real time protection and scans for spyware, although only the full version of Spyware Doctor will be able to remove them. Also when you will install this version, it will come with an Google Toolbar, which is optional, you can install it or choose to skip. Coming up with this new version, the program uses less system resources, enhances detection rates and has a faster engine. This is a time unlimited trial version that will not remove detected threats during scan time but real time detection and removal threats is enabled.

Spyware Doctor is a good anti-spyware tool which deserves at least a chance. Actually I think the best way to see how good it is and to decide if he worths the upgrade for a completely full version is to download Spyware Doctor, install it and check his real detection rates. This is a fair evaluation for all of us. Despite the fact that many users criticise this application, I still believe that is an useful one which can help you. For example, some users criticise the scan times which seriously increased, start up of the system has slow downs and OnGuard protection system takes to long to shut down. Those are some of the users complaints but I guess if we want good results we should check the minimal requirements for using this software. I mean if we have a powerful computer it would be much better when we use Spyware Doctor compared to a slower one. However, the free trial version is not fully functional and this a reality that you will discover only after you will download Spyware Doctor, install it, and then running a complete system scan. We also should mention here that when you will uninstall this program, you will discover traces of PCTools software in both the directory and in the system registry and you will probably need to delete them manually.

Other notes :

There are too many complaints and issues with Spyware Doctor and to be honest we didn't have the chance to see with our own eyes if all of them are true or only a part of them. One thing it's for sure that some technical problems, needs to be fixed. You know what they say "There's no smoke without fire". Also, you shouldn't rely only on an anti-spyware product you may want to test other well known anti-spyware software. I am not saying that the best rated anti-spyware is Spyware Doctor or it isn't, I am just saying that you also should have installed on your computer a good antivirus and why not, a good firewall to limit the access to some viruses and spyware. There is no such things like 100 percent secure system or a software that protects you from all threats. I guess the best protection for your computer is your volume of information and the up to date softwares that you are using to protect your computer.
