This version works on both 32bit and 64bit versions of Windows XP, Vista and 7.

Version 5.7 is conceived at the half way between programmers and casual user. Ii is intended, as its creator says, to reduce the world carbon dioxide emissions because it uses less CPU power, so less electricity. But beyond these fancy thoughts, the normal user is puzzled with the multitude of the commands that he may encounter on GUI. The program allows syntax highlighting for 48 languages and it defines itself as a better replacement for old Notepad. So if you do not allow to buy any other similar program or want to have fun in PHP, Java, or write HTML, you MUST give this program a chance. The combinations between the work frames and commands are virtually infinite and you can evolve with these new combinations. The program has a non-friendly interface (being developed also for programmers), but has a pragmatic one. I would like to say that I also recommended TextPad, a shareware software which is also a powerful text editor but if you're looking for a free open source alternative, I strongly recommend you to download and install NotePad++ as it is endeed an amazing software and if it's possible don't forget to donate them as they are doing an amazing job.
