It supports all major graphic formats (BMP, JPEG, JPEG 2000, animated GIF, PNG, PCX, TIFF, WMF, ICO and TGA) and popular digital camera RAW formats (CRW, CR2, NEF, PEF, RAF, MRW, ORF, SRF and DNG). Coming with the latest version of FastStone Image Viewer more features has been added like "Border" effects in "Batch Convert", "Line Highlighter" in "Draw Board", "Side by Side" comparison in "Enhance Colors". FastStone Image Viewer shouldn't be compared with professional tools like Photoshop. If all you need is a quick resizing, sorting or a color correction and sharpening then this photo editing software will help you to do it fast. It has been rated as an excellent image viewer and becomes a choice for many users and beginners. Probably it's so appreciated and because he is being improved with new releases which are better and better. I tested and I didn't like the fact that he doesn't have plug in effects, which would be a lovely feature, but that's a minor handicap and I must give him a positive review. It has features that I normally use them like special effects for images: watermark, annotation, drop shadow, framing, bump map, lens, morph, waves, color effects like Red/Green/Blue adjustment, gray scale, sepia, negative. Slideshow creation with 150+ transition effects and music support ( MP3, WMA, WAV ), image management, including tagging capability, with drag-and-drop and Copy To/Move To Folder support, image EXIF metadata support (plus comment editing for JPEGs), compare images side-by-side (up to 4 at a time) to easily cull those forgettable shots and one-touch best fit/actual size image display support. Those are only a small feature list of this photo editing software and I know that my words aren't enough to describe this popular photo software. Being stable is one of his qualities as a good and free photo editing software so no major technical issues were reported. This program is continuously improved and that may be a decisive factor in his behaviour on a Microsoft Windows computer. It is also well known the fact that graphical applications are, most of them, created to use a lot of system resources. Until now, FastStone Image Viewer is moderate on using computer resources, better said it's low to moderate and this is another strong thing that makes it so special. The installation process is also very easy and it will be accomplished even by a beginner. I didn't noticed interferences with other graphical applications so I guess you can easily install it on the same computer even if you have other graphical software installed. The only thing that you should avoid is to edit the same picture with two programs in the same time, although it may not be allowed. If this is what you're looking for, try to edit the image with a software, save it, make a backup in case something goes wrong and after this open it and edit that image/picture with the second program.
