Download Accelerator Plus is the most well known download accelerator worldwide with over 153 million users worldwide. I am using it since 2004 and keep using it untill 2006. I was using it mainly for his ability to speed up my dial-up connection. Another reason was beacause of his good intregration with Netscape, Opera, Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. It's a useful program and extremely appreciated by the users that are using dial-up, ISDN or ADSL connections. It won't make your connection to go up to 400 %, for example if the best you can get on your dial-up connection on a normal day is a 3-4 KB/s this program will force your connection at his maximum and you will normally experience connections at a constant and a normal rate of 5-6 KB/s. I am sure that for users with high speed connections this may sound like a bad joke but many of us had access to the Internet since 1995 for example and back then almost everybody had a dial-up connection. Many people accessed the Internet for the first time after 2000 year and since then the connections to the Internet has evolved. Now I am to lazy to download DAP and install it on my computer since now I have a fiber connection to my work place which allows me connections to the Internet with over 6 MB/s and at my home I also have an ADSL 2 connection which allows me to download files at a normal rate of 600-700 KB/s which is more than enough for me. But I will never forget the bad experiences that I had with the dial-up connections when I was forced to download large files. I will never forget that period since it tooked many years for me to be able now to enjoy these connections. That's why Download Accelerator Plus ( also referred to as DAP ) earned my respect and helped me a lot. I said that I am to lazy to install it now since I have decent connections but if you want to experience the best of your Internet connections, I suggest you to download DAP, install it and enjoy the maximum download speed of your Internet connection.

Other notes :

Some technical issues were reported when DAP was installed or upgraded over an older version. Some files of DAP will not uninstall. It is a well known problem of DAP that seems to be fixed. Also, some older versions of DAP, creates dynamically expanding temporary files while this program was downloading, which maked the completed file very fragmented. This error was fixed and it doesn't exist. There are some large memory leaks in Windows 98 which maked DAP to consume more resources forcing one to close most other running applications even on a computer that had over 256 RAM installed. However since in a couple of years this Microsoft Windows version will become history, DAP runs great on newer OS.
