Best software to delete and erase your computer traces for Microsoft Windows. Maybe it's only my personal impression maybe not but let me argue with this. In 2003 I searched for a couple of days for a software that could delete my hard drive senzitive data. I wanted to donate my computer and I didn't want to expose my personal informations to others. I also downloaded almost all popular software recovery tools at that date. Finally, after I tried at least ten or more erase programs and got dissapointed, I discovered CyberScrub ( back then it was called simply CyberScrub Professional ). From the first moment I knew that this software is different, I don't know why but it had a serious interface and it was very intuitive. I decided to read the help file included in this program and after some documentation I managed to configure CyberScrub. And I use nowadays the same settings that I used in 2003. Actually the secret is to know from the start what erasing methods you should use and to scramble file names each time you want to delete something, just make sure to check all erasing options. For example if you have nothing to hide than you may want to use an erasing method from the three Quick Wiping wipe methods ( those methods are fast and should stop some data recovery software but cannot stop the hardware recovery tools that will be able in most cases to recovery your deleted data ). If you have senzitive data and you want to delete them so that no any other software or hardware tools to be able to recover them, then you should use one of the Stop Hardware Recovery methods that exceeds US Department of Defense 5220.20 : 3+7+3 Beyond DoD Standards or Stop Hardware Recovery (Gutmann). Those two methods are very secure and can stop hardware and software tools to recover your data but they have an incovenient, they are slow erasing methods. For example I use, when I am deleting senzitive informations this method : Stop Hardware Recovery (Gutmann). The Gutmann deletion algorithm seemed to be the most secure method to delete my personal informations. I read Secure Deletion of Data from Magnetic and Solid-State Memory - by Gutmann, Peter. (July 22-25, 1996) and it convinced me that this method could stop the recovery of my files. After I read this book Digital Fortress a techno-thriller novel by American author Dan Brown, I was convinced that such a software can only stop normal people and specialized companies to recover my files, although I have no valuable informations ( never had ) on my computer. Let's suppose that you are a bad person and you want to destroy the world. Trust me that the Government agencies, well prepaired law enforcements from all over the world have the necessary tools and software to recover your encrypted and deleted information. Sure, using CyberScrub Privacy Suite Professional can be the best solution for erasing information from our hard drivers if our hard drives are going to be investigated with normal recovery hardware and software tools.

Technical issues can appear since you may have other programs installed on your computer that will block the normal activity of this wipe program. Make sure that you have the proper Administrator permission if you encounter problems when you are deleting files since CyberScrub Privacy Suite removes the sensitive information (Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, etc.) from the user account in which it was run. "To clean sensitive information from other users, you need to switch to another user and run Privacy Suite from that user. Privacy Suite has been designed to allow you to run it from another user without having to install it under each individual user (just run its executable file). Once loaded on a different user, it will automatically detect the correct paths for that user, so you won't need to re-configure anything.If you want to clean sensitive information from other users (without switching the user account), there is also an option to do this: just add their corresponding folders to the Custom Areas of Privacy Guard and they will be erased each time your run it. The only condition is that you have access to delete the files from other users (if you are administrator, you should be able to do this)."
