Ad-Aware it's probably the best free anti-spyware product. It is extremely simple to use, safe and has a great rate for malware detection. Surfing the Internet can bring without your knowledge parasites, keyloggers, Trojans, dialers, browser hijackers, aggressive advertising or tracking components which will slow down or even damage your OS or your rights to privacy. Fortunately, Ad-Aware includes a new engine, a better code sequence identification - CSI - this improved technology has higher rates of detection for embedded malware and other threats, multiple browser support ( for Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera ) incremental definition updates and many new features like TrackSweep which will erase your tracks while surfing the Web. Also, Ad-Aware will scan everything from external devices to HDD, Registry, RAM. The main purpose of this software is to provide you with a more than a decent level of protection against any threats that may conceal your privacy.

Definitely Ad-Aware deserves to be classified as one of the most popular anti-spyware software. I mean, it must be, since you won't find many products like this, doing the same job in exchange for...free. In this version - compared with the old one, I observed that when using the scan, it takes more time to finish the job. That's probably because it is scanning better. It is free, simple to use - doesn't require alot of knowledge to use it, since it's intuitive and it can be used by anybody. So, in conclusion, if you are an exigent person when you are talking about "privacy on the internet" - though - you are not willing to spend money on a "privacy software" or at least not yet, then you must know that this application is for you - free to download and free to use - Ad-Aware. Though, if you will ask us, we believe that you should have a clean system installed, your antivirus up-to-date and finally to have such a privacy software like Ad-Aware and use the scan option at least once a week. An infected system will always leave "opened doors" for other malware applications and the fight can be lost even if we think that our favourite software can gain the battle, so beware !

Other notes :

Altough Ad-Aware is a great privacy tool which can be used by us in fight with everything that malware represents, it is good to know that when you will use the "Full Scan" function ( as an example ) it is recommended to close any opened browser. Sure, it will be ideal to have more RAM and a powerful CPU unit installed on your system - for faster scanning. Also, you may want to close any high CPU consuming applications in order to avoid a system blocking. A great experiment that we did on several infected PC units is that we combined Ad-Aware with an powerful antivirus. What we did was to use the Full Scan option of this software and we observed that Kaspersky Antivirus this is the antivirus that we used and it was working together with Ad-Aware. Incredible the privacy software was deeply scanning the system and the antivirus was right behind him. We had a surprise - the antivirus detection rates has increased ( this was our impression ) and it discovered alot of Trojans, browser hijackers etc. We didn't test this with other antivirus software but you can download Ad-Aware, install it and choose your favourite antivirus to see if you can increase your detection rates.
